Q/A

Q: What is Bill Pay?

A: Bill Pay is a service that allows you to pay virtually anyone or any company through your online banking account. You determine who you want to pay, when you want to make the payment, and which account you want the payment to come from.

Q: Who can I pay with Bill Pay?

A: You can pay virtually any business or individual with a mailing address within the United States. For example, you can pay utilities, cable bills or credit cards, or individuals such as a landlord, babysitter or relative.

Q: How are online payments delivered?

A: Payments are sent one of two ways – electronically or by paper checks. Your payment information such as account number is sent via secure and encrypted transmission. All other payments are made by paper checks that are mailed via the U.S. Postal Service.

Q: How to pay a person using Bill Pay?

A: There are three payment methods available to pay a person:

  1. By paper check, mailed via the U.S. Postal Service, you will need the recipients full name and address for this option.

  2. By email, you will need the receiver’s full name, phone number, email address, and create a “Shared Keyword,” that you will need to communicate to the receiver (payee). The receiver will receive an email where they can accept to receive the payment, enter the “Shared Keyword” and then enter their Bank Routing # and Account #.

  3. By direct deposit, you will need the receiver’s (payee) full name, phone number, bank routing number, and account number.

Make sure to add recipients as a New Payee to Payments in your Online Banking account so that you are able to transfer money to them using one of the seamless methods above.
